Activists in several U.S. cities held marches and demonstrations Saturday against the biotech company Monsanto which produces genetically modified seeds.
Protesters say the seeds are dangerous and harmful to the environment. Monsanto though insists its products are safe and help farmers produce more crops.
Demonstrators held signs and banners and chanted slogans. (nats) Organizers of the March Against Monsanto say protests were being held in more than 44 countries around the world Saturday.
Genetically modified plants are grown from seeds that are engineered to resist insecticides and herbicides, and to increase crop yield.
