Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker wrapped up this year's Cannes film festival on Sunday.

Taking to the red carpet the pair joined director Jerome Salle to showcase their film 'Zulu' in which the famous faces take on Cape Towns criminal underworld.

The tense thriller centres on Bloom and Whitaker searching for the murderer of a white teenager.

It also frankly depicts post-apartheid racial tension bubbling under the surface -- often graphically with scenes of severed heads and rape.

But Whitaker says whilst it might appear hard to stomach, it also makes a point.

SOUNDBITE: Actor, Forest Whitaker, saying (English):

"This is the kind of world that exists, and I think this movie is trying to deal with it. So I don't want to augment or say it's cool for it to be pessimistic because I think there's a lot of things that can happen, but certainly trying to keep this pressure cooker and figure out how to let the tension come out is so important."
