Everyone talks of the Winterline as seen from Landour, and forgets about the lovely monsoon sunsets from this high ridge that, at once, overlooks the plains of north India and the high mountains of Uttarakhand. On this clear day (19th August 2013), one could see far into the northern plains, as far as Roorkee and Saharanpur to the south, Haridwar to the east, the Yamuna valley to the west (Chaur peak on the Himachal-Uttarkhand border is in the center of this sunset panorama), and of course the northern peaks of Bandarpunch and Swargarohini, among others.
It's the same sun that shines down on everyone in the world. But here in Uttarakhand, we believe that the sun shines extra specially and colourfully only for us!
