Surprise Me!

Morning Dew and Slaughter Beach, DE 5-31-2011

As is usually my fate, I decided last minute to film a morning sunrise at a beach. And this time, it was Slaughter Beach, DE. This is not the first time I have been to Slaughter Beach to film a sunrise. Slaughter Beach is on the Delaware Bay and is a very quiet community. It is a very beautiful area and the water does not have the large breakers that you would find at an oceanside beach. So I was able to place the camera close to the water while filming the sunrise. I also took a few still photos of the dew drops which form on the dune grass near the beach too. I think this may have inspired me to choose the Grateful Dead's "{Walk Me Out in the) Morning Dew " from 3/18/90 as a soundtrack for this video.
I wanted to get this video up on Youtube as quickly as possible. I believe it is not as well edited as I would like it to be, but I wanted to share the charm of this morning as soon as I could. Perhaps in the future I will make a better edit. I like my slide show in the beginning, but there are some video shots that I could fix up. Still, there are some shots that I love. The wide angle shot of the sunrise at 7:07. And I like the way the water washed over the beach stones at 9:09 too.

Morning Dew lyrics by Bonnie Dobson

Walk me out in the morning dew my honey,
Walk me out in the morning dew today.
I can't walk you out in the morning dew my honey,
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today.

I thought I heard a baby cry this morning,
I thought I heard a baby cry this today.
You didn't hear no baby cry this morning,
You didn't hear no baby cry today.

Where have all the people gone my honey,
Where have all the people gone today.
There's no need for you to be worrying about all those people,
You never see those people anyway.

I thought I heard a young man morn this morning,
I thought I heard a young man morn today.
I thought I heard a young man morn this morning,
I can't walk you out in the morning dew today.

Walk me out in the morning dew my honey,
Walk me out in the morning dew today.
I'll walk you out in the morning dew my honey,
I guess it doesn't really matter anyway,
I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
I guess it doesn't matter anyway,
Guess it doesn't matter anyway.
