STORY: American designer Marc Jacobs closed Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in New York on Thursday (September 12).
For the occasion Jacobs transformed the massive Lexington Armory into a decaying beachscape littered with cigarette butts and broken beer bottles complete with a black sand runway.
The haunting theme of Jaws opened the show to which a model clad in burgundy jacket and black sequined Bermuda shorts marched down the runway.
The mood of the overall collection was somber and dark, reflected in the designer's unusual color palette for spring.
Navy was paired with burgundy, and Hawaiian prints were prominently used in black and deep red.
Flat sandals completed most looks, from silk shorts to lacy black gowns that seemed to come straight from a character of a gothic novel.
Jacobs seemed to favor a strong silhouette for spring - jackets and tops had wide sleeves and power shoulders.
