The Australian military is investigating whether it may be responsible for starting one of the major wildfires burning in New South Wales.
The Defence Force says an explosives training exercise was taking place some 80 kilometres northwest of Sydney on the same day a fire began in the area.
Several fires are still being fought and hotter temperatures are feared in the coming days.
