For the third weekend a row, "Gravity" starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney rockets to the top of box office charts with $31 million in ticket sales.

The 3-D Oscar hopeful has had overall ticket sales of more that $170 million. The movie about astronauts floating through zero-gravity space has wowed critics with its special effects.

And for a second consecutive weekend, "Captain Phillips" starring Tom Hanks, is at the helm of second place at the box office, with $17.3 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales.

The movie, based on a true story, tells the tale of a cargo ship taken over by Somali pirates, and its American captain who was held hostage.
