At least 30 people died when this private bus rammed into an oil tanker in southern India's Andhra Pradesh state and caught fire.

The bus, carrying around 44 passengers, was travelling from Bangalore to Hyderabad.

When it reached Kothakota flyover it hit a tanker, which erupted into flames.

The blaze engulfed the bus before passengers realised what had happened....It was 11pm and most of them had been sleeping.

The driver and some other passengers managed to escape. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

Road accidents in India are common...transport officials attribute a large number of accidents there to poorly maintained roads and vehicles, reckless driving, and overloading.
