My grandma was the co-signer on the loan and she was the person who was paying it. Last february, my grandma passed away. I have been unable to pay Sallie Mae the money that I owe them. I called them today and discovered that my loan went into default yesterday. Now, I am filing bankruptcy in about two months. I know that student loans are ineligible for discharge, but my question is.. what options to I have? I am currently a student, I started in February of this year. I only work part time and I earn about 650 a month. My husband is currently out of work and not making any sort of income. Sallie Mae always seems to refuse to work with me. I've told them over and over that the person who was paying is now dead and they don't seem to care. I have to somehow come up with this money to pay them. Even tho I have rent and food that I have to pay for which in my opinion is way more important. Every time I try to call and talk to somebody, they are extremely rude to me. I've asked them to send statements and bills in the mail and they say they will, but never do. I had received nothing from them stating that my loan was about to default. When I asked about it, she told me that it didn't matter that they didn't send anything, It wouldn't have made a difference. -
