According to a survey of 8 thousand workers from countries including the United States, Canada, India, and several in Europe, a higher percentage of US workers dislike their work.

The survey was taken by Monster.com working together with a market research company called GfK.

The results show that 53 percent of Americans like their jobs, while 15 percent reportedly don’t like it or hate it.

Canadians were the happiest at work, with 64 percent of respondents saying that they like their jobs and only 7 percent said they dislike their work.

Joanie Ruge, senior vice president with Monster Worldwide, Inc. said: “There’s been lots of studies done about how Europeans have more vacation days, or have better work-life balance. The other side of it is that there’s a lot of information about Americans working too many hours.”

Some of the other countries that participated in the survey have a standard 35 hour work week rather than 40 hours a week, and workers in the US don’t get mandatory paid annual vacation or paid maternal leave.

What do you think? Why do more Americans hate their jobs compared to workers in other countries?
