"Ride Along" rode over all the other contenders at the box office this weekend, driving in $41.2 million dollars in ticket sales, according to studio estimates.

But, it's not entirely a smooth ride for the cop comedy staring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

Variety magazine called it "a lazy and listless buddy-cop action-comedy that fades from memory as quickly as its generic title."

And, "Lone Survivor," a movie about the Afghanistan war came in second at the box office with $23.2 million dollars in sales.

The Philadelphia Inquirer gave it a positive review, calling it "a step-by-fateful-step study of human endurance, of desperation, of resolve, and resignation."

The film starring Mark Wahlberg tells the tale of four Navy SEALs on a mission to fight al-Qaeda.
