A cold snap delivers snow and ice to the Southern U.S. --- and a fresh challenge to drivers not used to negotiating slick roads.

The storm hits states from Texas to North Carolina --- averaging about two inches in most places.
Snow brought traffic to a standstill for hours and hundreds of Georgia students weren't able to make it home.
Six states have declared a state of emergency.
