Madrid, Feb 1 (EFE).- In a show of respect for a man well respected, Real Madrid players and coaches observed a moment of silence during their training session on Saturday following the death earlier in the day of Luis Aragones, who coached the Spanish national team from 2004 to 2008 and lifted the Euro 2008 trophy.

In a club statement, Real Madrid described Aragones as "one of the most important figures in Spanish football." Aragonés, fondly referred to in Spain as "The Wise Man From Hortaleza", died Saturday morning at Madrid's Cemtro Clinic at the age of 75.
