It should have been the start of a new chapter in the lives of the students at a South Korean university welcome meeting on Monday night.
Instead the families of at least ten are in mourning after the building collapsed on them.
About 560 people were inside the auditorium at the time at a mountain golf resort in Gyeongju.
Some were trapped beneath the rubble but officials say all have now been rescued.
Grieving relatives are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
