RICHARD PRYOR: LIVE ON THE SUNSET STRIP PART 2 OF 4
Plot Synopsis: by Hal Erickson
The inherent showmanship of director Joe Layton sustains interest even during the slowest passages of this comedy-concert film. Pryor isn't quite as on-the-money here as he was in his first monologue flick, Live in Concert, but this may be attributable to the fact that he'd just recovered from his notorious free-basing accident. His comments on that event comprise some of the film's most uproarious moments, though his standard sex-talk runs a close second.
