Former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah has extended his lead in the Afghan presidential race, according to the latest tally although half of the votes must yet be counted.
Partial results give him 44 percent support. His nearest rival, ex-world bank official Ashraf Ghani, is on 33 percent.
President Hamid Karzai is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term.
