He lives closer to the east coast
but his heart is on the west
maybe just his way of keeping
his watchful eye on the world, I'd guess
I wish there had been more people like him
around me when I was a kid
someone not afraid to do the right thing
or stand up for what he believes in
you know I've heard of past defeats
but all I can see is his success
everyone gets pushed down sometimes
but most would have been crushed by his
so when I say he's a distraction
I didn't just mean his movements
I can't help but wonder his source of strength
to have walked that path and succeeded
instead of just living through it
