Back in the 1960s
Momma would ride us kids
Down River Street
To see the river,
The statue, the park,
The historical markers,
And the old
Dilapidated buildings.
We were wowed!
She'd drive slowly
And ever so carefully,
As the cobblestones
Would cause the old Pontiac
To rock and sway.
We enjoyed it.
‘Twas fun.
Mamma is long gone now.
And River Street
Has long been revitalized.
It is now a beautiful
and engaging site.
But I will always treasure
The memories.
