Lilly Emery - An Old Woman

An Old Woman
A gray old woman sits all alone
Feeling so unloved
Uncherished and unknown to other
She stays home with no one to call her home
Sitting beside her broken door
Wishing her kids loved her
She would dreaming of days past long ago
When true love came her way
When children played about her knees
Filling the air with childish glee
But with time all her dreams faded away
Just like that summers day
Shadows of domes made way with clouds of gray
Now all her kids moved one
each to live their own life
A girl to her husband, a boy to his wife
But a mother left with her memory's
Silently she tears wishing her kids was near
striving for their Love
But they forgot her and left her poor
Blind mother's grief
Her cold life had been taken some years
Out of her life
But neglect of her children may seem unkind
She'll forgive and forget all unkindness they've shown
This poor old mother who sits alone
Winter snow made way to her home
She looks out her window counting snow flakes
Like she once did with her kids
What she did when she was young
Old age doesn't come by itself
And it isn't all that fun
Going to bed all alone
Know one to hold
Know one to keep her safe
Those awful cold winds and rain
Bring on my old rheumatic pain
Eating and sitting all day
Hoping and praying for all her pains to go way
She lays in bed looking for better days
As her mind drift away
on that cold winters day
