Snowflakes fall like feathers
To thicken the blanket on the ground
Bare trees also give testament
To the fact that winter is here
Water is frozen, 'cept where it runs fast
There's a creaking at the edges
Where it's gripped fast, in an icy clasp
The snow is now a blizzard curtain
Hiding the sun from view
But there's no warmth in it anyway
All life is hushed, nothing moves
The earth is at rest now until the spring.
