I go to sleep and time turns back.
Then suddenly I am held fast,
A nightmare mounts a sneak attack,
transports me back into the past.
Convinced it is reality
I am engulfed in black despair.
I struggle but I can’t break free.
the misery is hard to bear.
I break sleeps chains and I awake.
My heart is pounding like a drum.
I dearly paid for my mistake
and repetitions aren’t welcome.
My lady takes me in her arms
where I am safe and holds me tight.
She banishes the night’s alarms.
She has known terrors of the night.
With her I do not need to wear
the public face I hide behind.
I’m not afraid to share my fears.
She is compassionate and kind.
