not every girl's thoughts jump out of her head
between the grumbling hum of the air conditioner
and practiced dialogue of late night infomercials

not every girl has a smiling self on the inside,
a snickering self that comes out when the world sleeps
only to discuss the day's misfortunes
[preferably other people's]
not every girl reads letters like numbers
and uses numbers like crayons to draw disturbing pictures
just because it will upset or shock people.
[sometimes a headless girl is just a headless girl]
not every girl has a symphony of voices,
singing her thoughts in occasional disharmony
purely for her own amusement.
[a constant running commentary is good company]
