When the Leviathon
swallowed the poem,
without thinking I dove
down into its great jaws,
holding them open
unmindful of the razor teeth,
gazing into the Black Hole,
reaching, reaching, willing
to follow the work down
into its bowels,
but my head wouldn't fit
down the narrow gullet
and struggling, struggling,
I finally had to admit defeat,
a hero but a vanquished one.
