Just so you know,
Somewhere out there
Mothers are dying;
Their babies are crying.
Communities are oppressed;
Poverty-stricken and under arrest.
Somewhere, there are worries about carbs,
While children in the world are starved.
And so are greedy corporations
With their misinformation
On the value of the people’s toil
In ‘the land of free’ that is killing for oil.
In the land where a person is measured by their wealth.
A stolen land that fucks people, and it’s system of health.
And the prisons are bursting at the seams.
Borders are ‘crossed’ by poor people with needs,
While education is slipping down the drain
Along with democracy and human stains
on a racist flag we are forced to fight for
Because war-hungry leaders always want more.
But we won’t give up our blood, the food on our tables,
Our cultures and languages for false fables
Of a land for ‘liberty and justice for all’.
They won’t break our rage, we’ll break down their walls,
And fight against the systems that are unfair and devious
We call for a social order that is equal and just.
No, we won’t give up though change is slow
Because freedom is out there,
just so you know,
just so you know,
just so you know.
