In Memory of Mrs. Florence Lord, my Fourth Grade Teacher...
Mrs. Lord was not a bore,
She kept me busy evermore.
If not for her I wouldn't know
Multiplication's way to go.
Every day I had THE DRILL,
My head with facts she had to fill.
One hundred of them quick in time,
For every one I'd like a dime!
The ones I missed I had to write
Ten times each at home that night.
I did so poorly most the year,
I thought I'd never get in gear.
I can't remember when I knew,
But all at once I got a clue.
Those facts....I had to memorize!
Then short in time were all my tries.
I'll always remember Mrs. Lord,
For me, in Math, she opened the door.
