Suddenly the plane door opened – I, easy in my place,
Was sucked up like a bird into a jet
But hurtled out and down down down fell Alice
Into a nightmare vortex where I met
Shadows, images from long suppressed recollections
Standing like sealed jars upon the shelf
Each labeled ‘English Marmelade’ with bitter rind reflections
Once tasted would remind my shrinking self
There is no climbing back into the plane,
I can’t be swept back up again,
I’m hurling still in vain
The ocean then
Oblivion
