Walking down the street, I noticed
A complete stranger saluting me!
Glad to say he was not
He was making his totally unnecessary
Call on his state of the art cell phone,
A speaker bud was jammed in his other ear
Completing his exit from the noise of the street
Nearly getting himself run over through his temporary deafness.
And making himself least popular with his elecronic spastic phone.
Of course, you cannot walk the street like this
Without the best in high tech sneakers!
Although a runner or a walker -
Not he.
It must be the newest in style, shouted at you from billboards.
Completing this ensemble are the jeans.
Jeans are jeans, but the label says it all
Dumb bastard is paying for a rectangle of cloth.
I've always found the cheapest, the better by far.
We are seduced by adverts.
Or waiting to be noticed by a clone.
No wonder that I laugh, as I pass them by.
