That Day - -
How well I remember!
That Day - -
T'Was a day In December...
When we wed,
And I was the bride
Who rosily blushed
As you, the charming groom,
Was the one who rushed
Me to the altar!
I was so young,
So innocent, so dumb!
And you were just as green
And as untrained as I!
And so, the two of us wed,
And played at marriage,
Not knowing exactly
How innocent we were...
Until the bottom fell out,
And we were rudely dumped
Out on the world,
That old School of Hard Knocks,
Where the innocent,
And ever so dumb ones,
Are educated - in a hurry! !
We learned, the hard way,
That it isn't all fun and games,
That two CAN'T live
As cheaply as one,
And everything you buy
Must be paid for,
Sooner or later...
And that nothing in life
Worth having
Is free.
