Love's only cost
is my blinded eyesight,
for now, I can only
look at you.
Love's only cost
is my broken arms,
for they no longer are able
to hold anyone but you.
Love's only cost
is my stunted legs!
They can no longer walk away,
only toward you.
Love's only cost
is my poor knobby knees,
for they only want to bow down to you,
and worship the ground on which you walk.
Love's only cost
is my ragged voice,
for it can only sing
praise of you.
Love's only cost
is my broken heart,
for it no longer beats for me,
but beats only for you.
Love's only cost
is my very tattered soul,
for once it was mine alone,
but now lives just for you.
But you know,
now I think about it,
you, my love, really are
worth at least an arm and a leg,
for after all,
Love ain't cheap!
