High in a tower,
Filled with woe,
A girl there dwells,
Who wishes to go,
She calls aloud,
For help to come,
A crow arrives,
To give her some,
The crow replies,
'I can't do better,
I cannot lie,
But you have a letter, '
'One of reprieve,
Do not cry,
For it gives relief,
You will not die, '
The letter reads:
'Sentence revoked,
Blameless of deeds,
Never to croak.',
'My mistake, Oh No!
This isn't your name,
You cannot go!
Y'stay in shame, '
'I have to leave,
I've letters to show,
I'll leave you to grieve,
And to dyin' slow.'
