Fear rises up inside me I take a step back from you But you pull me closer again And in your eyes I see the anger Not angry because of me Or something I did But you’ll take it out on me anyway I know what’s coming You’ll knock me down You’ll call me stupid And tell me I’m worthless And the more I hear it The more I believe it I can’t leave you I can’t walk away Not only because you’d follow me But for fear of what you may do To me or those I love So I stay and listen to you Berating me over and over I deal with the hits I deal with the words Or so I thought You have destroyed me I realize now that u affected me In more ways than I imagined Affected how I view myself Affected how I view others Affected my ability to trust Affected my ability to love I’m working on getting it back But in the process I have hurt those I
care for most I have pushed them away And ruined precious relationships That cannot be repaired However, I regret nothing Only because there is no time for regrets In this life My only wish is that someone Does to you What you have done to me: Kills you on the inside
