The birthday cards were always signed “I love you”-
Every special holiday he knew just what to do.
But the days in between, he would tend to forget-
Sometimes say things he'd later regret.
Busy with work and meetings here or there-
She began to feel he just didn't care.
He spoke more to his partners than she-
Time taken from her for his perfect law degree
She stood by his side through it all-
Even the nights he worked late and forgot to call.
He would always make it up in some special way-
Roses and an “I love you card” would do what he couldn't say.
Never once did he speak those 3 little words aloud-
Merely relied on cards to portray the things he long ago vowed.
As time went on, she gave up on things getting changed-
Realized that their relationship was completely estranged.
One day she decided to just let go-
When he asked why-she only said “It's because of what you didn't show-
“No emotions at all-everything written not spoken-
So now I must walk away with my heart broken.”
