A band orchestrated on a podium of doubts
The peals of appeals echoing near and beyond
Discordant tunes aired then as inaugurations.
These are ravenous guests at a buffet of power
Armed with giant tarnished platters for service,
Their long tines of greed soaked in cold blood.
Lords vainly girded in sackcloth with pouches
Their veiled intents soon unmasked by deeds:
A divided house united for arrogant plunder.
The visage of beauty on the lofty dais of oration;
A cosmetic change as varnish for soiled reputations.
Fresh gloss adorns brigandage with a new look;
A fleet for flitting moments for paupers’ servants
As Motions of Neglect shackle wards to penury.
Pugilists in eminent garbs for unscheduled bouts:
Their hallowed chambers roped for decision.
