'Race you 'round sixteenth street-'
As fast as lightning itself-
I could beat him, yeah I could,
If my shoes were tied.
'Wait up! ' I cried; but he
Was already around the bend.
I could catch him, yeah I could,
If only I was older.
He's just too fast,
I never last
In a race between him and me.
There's a shortcut, though,
I know the way home,
I'll beat him there, you'll see.
