SUJATA VARMA - The Bride

2014-06-13 19 Dailymotion

A golden red sari
the colour of the glorious sun
Draped lightly over
her delicate frame
She sat - she, the bride.

Her thick and black tresses were plaited
to almost below her knees
And on it was arranged artistically
the intoxicating 'mogra' flowers

On her fair forehead - the vermillion 'Bindi'
symbolised her status
Her fine eyebrows arched
over eyes that were deep pools
fringed by sooty eyelashes
Her lips like rosebud
above the jutting chin
Her neck, slender as a gazelle's
was bedecked with gold
Delicate earrings on her earlobes
Bracelets and bangles studded with precious stones
on her hands, and...intricate designs in 'mehndi'

Her feet adorned with anklets
She sat waiting..............
And all who saw her exclaimed
' The bride is breathtakingly beautiful! '
