The maya angelou's poem on pheonomenal woman touched me.
But i couldn't agree with the woman priding herself for her physical assets on the reasons of her being phenomenal.
So I thought of another version of a phenomenal woman.. here it goes..
I had earlier posted a poem with same title. This is an improvised version of that.
****************************
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the depth of my words
The reach of my deeds,
The smile on my face,
And the grace of my gaze.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you think..
And all the men,
Salute me in awe.
They stand before me,
With folded hands.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
The love in my sight,
The will of my mind
And the feel of my might
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's the peace of my mind
The wings of my elf,
The march of my presence,
And the spirit of my self.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the love of my touch,
The warmth of my voice
The strength of my heart
And the breadth of my poise
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
