i'm sure i've never been a deer;
not buck, nor fawn, nor yearling doe.
i may have been a cat, perhaps,
but nothing quite so tame as that
small tribe of cloven hooves just there.
i'm sure i've never been a deer.
i'm close to positive at least,
i've never been so docile - tame
as those soft creatures walking by;
timidity, their alibi
and camoflage. such gentle beasts.
to my ferocious mind, - a feast!
