It must just be me
and the way that I look
or the vibe I give off
that keeps pushing you away.
cuz today we were friends
for an hour or two
and then you
were gone again,
like when we were together.
Always where, never here
nor there
nor any place between us.
And now,
how has it changed?
In no way but one,
that we are not we,
but you and me, two separate beings.
and she owns the way,
the path, that we walked,
the time that we spent
is all gone.
And I’m alone,
again.
It must just be me
that wants anything for us.
So now there will be no us,
no we, no you and me,
not you’re smile in my memory
or your eyes
or the touch of your hands.
Because your words are beginning to fade
Into the black nothing that is us.
