My quilt of patches cut square
all sewed together by hand
not a piece matches but share
the same perimeter band
the edge of fine lace
of peculiar design
all sewed into place
on this quilt of mine
my old shirt a piece
her old skirt for fleece
all together as built
that makes it a quilt
its a beauty to see
but what makes it special to me
each and every strand
is that my wife made it for me
by her loving hand
