Shadows of the past
darken my world at the strangest times.
Heavy patches of sadness and pain.
Memories of times that have gone.
Thoughts of what may have been.
Chances that never come again.
Choices made.
Spontaneous some. Others through need.
Leave dark empty spaces.
No matter what happens, what journey you take.
The ghosts remain.
Haunting these cold lonely places.
With chastising voices and shameful faces.
They tauntingly regurgetate
The long disowned you.
Laughing at you
and drowning your soul
A pain no forgiveness subdues.
