the stars are out: late at night,
the moon sings high: eyes shut tight,
under the sheets, they shine all night long
when you dream, light peeks through,
gentle beams of brilliant blue.
through your eyelids: they shine all night long
morning comes, a scolding sun
open wide: dreams undone
he could've sworn: they shined all night long
silly boy: another day
waste it well, brilliant decay
you'll dream of her; they'll shine all night long
