THE SPHINX’S WALK
Like some ancient riddle of the Sphinx,
Out of my mother’s womb,
I crawled out on all fours,
And there after on twos, rather soon!
Today I walk the lonely garden path,
On this cold and gray winter’s eve,
Hearing the partridge from the hedges
Sing their songs of glee.
I jostle up the garden path
With my gifted walking stick,
A Sphinx smile on my face,
As I walk on all threes.
I walk up the lonely garden path,
And seek HIS divine grace,
May the good Lord have mercy
on my soul,
As I walk right into space!
