no great event
nothing like a date or dance
just an outing with her friends
a happy, carefree night to spend
She combs and styles her hair
for the town’s weekend fair,
chooses a hue for the lids
that lightens up the feat-
ures with a smidgen of color for the cheeks,
the right red tone to brighten the lips
and a matching shade for the finger tips.
Her looking in the mirror
evokes a flower of approval
of the face the artist has colored
and framed.
