A poets thoughts are loosely lucid
they form around something concrete
like a plastic hanger
hanging in a bathroom with a leaky faucet
and a window cracked three inches to let in the chill.
and around that image
they form a story
of something deeper than the hanger
yet still maintaining it's attributes.
to them that hanger
resting alone on the deep-wooded-towel-rack
might symbolize some habit
shameful
their own scarlet letter
or perhaps their own
condemnation
hanging, as they should, from some wooden object
or perhaps the hanger means nothing
and it is just a piece of plastic
with an unknown meaning
that rests
unchanging
and cold
in morbid moonlight
