My heart is not of this land; that is a certainty.
But I hesitate to venture out towards my destiny.
And why, I do not know.
Perhaps I fear a letdown,
To learn that I belong neither here nor there.
That must be it, I reckon.
It’s the fear of belonging not anywhere.
My heart beats not for this land; indeed a tragedy.
And I must set out to know if what’s there is for me.
Until then, I will not know.
