The pony I rode is now broken
And it won’t even take a token
Words that heal were never spoken
Thunder passes through my veins
Leaving a menagerie of crimson stains
Now I have cells with no brains
The smoke filled tomb
The hacking cough hides the doom
And the gloom that it will consume
It just rushes up and slaps you in the face
But even that won’t displace
This lonesome feeling of disgrace
Those crazy little pills
They don’t solve our ills
They don’t pay the bills
What is left over are broken wills
So now snakes crawl on my skin
Monsters visit nightly when no one is in
Each dream is a daily nightmare
But who am I to care
I’d rather ride a broken horse
Let the addiction take its course
Truths are just a bunch of foggy thoughts
I struggle to stand among the have nots
No strength left to rise like a man so tall
Instead I bang my head on a padded wall
