We think to walk life’s road at last
We say we’re born anew
Now rid of all our dreadful past
We’ve nothing more to do

But though we say, “Now life is mine
Grafted in David’s Root”
The Lord will surely prune His Vine
Of branches void of fruit

Until life’s war is finally won
Till Christ we join on high
The work on earth must still be done
Through such as you and I

Why else should God His wealth invest?
With thieves and lazy fools
Why should he grant us endless rest?
If when we’re not His tools

We duck and dive we twist and swerve
When work is close to hand
When Christ Himself, came down to serve –Mt.20: 28
And humbly walk the land –Mt.8: 20

Consider how The Truth first came
Ere Christ became our own
Before He took away our shame
And changed our heart of stone

How did our sorrows find their end?
How did death’s herald flee?
Was someone else not used my friend?
To set completely free

Do likewise now as Jesus said –Jn.13: 12-17
Go forth and do the same –Mt.28: 18-20
Let’s heal the sick, raise up the dead
In Jesus’ mighty name…
