He ran,
His feet stumbling,
Fearful of what was to come,
His greatest fear.
He stopped to catch his breath,
Thinking the chase was over,
Thinking he had cheated death,
Cheated the reaper.
The lights flickered,
Exploding one after the other,
Darkness surrounding,
Consuming the light.
The shadow approached,
Ripping his soul from his body,
The empty vessel falling to the ground,
And his soul cast into eternal darkness.
