Drifting on blue water sans float
Arms folded beneath her head, legs akimbo
Basking in the backyard, ignoring wasps
Absolutely still, mulling, I suppose
But to all appearances in limbo.
Was it inner peace or something else?
A trick of shutting down
Casting herself into a spell.
She wore a Buddha's smile
Not a trace of furrow, thinking thoughts or not.
Did she have the knack of that as well?
