His eyes-dark and red-rimmed-
sunk into his head-
belied his intent.
dopesick and devilish, his mind had played tricks,
convinced him of truths that weren't true.
And so he held the cold steel
against your pulsing temple-
pulled the trigger.
And as your life leaked and faded,
he reached and snatched the fifty five dollars
that you were saving for that slick red 10 speed
and held it in his twitching grasp-
spat, and vanished into the night.
